Seminar “PRODUCT INNOVATION IN AN EVER-CHANGING COMPLEX FOOD SYSTEM”

On Thursday, November 3, 2023, IUFT successfully organized the seminar entitled “PRODUCT INNOVATION IN AN EVER-CHANGING COMPLEX FOOD SYSTEM” with the presence of the speaker from Ghent University, Prof. Koen Dewettinck. 

Professor Koen Dewettinck shared his knowledge and standpoints about the product innovation in an ever-changing complex food system with all his enthusiasm.

IUFT sent thanking gifts to contribution of the speakers and UGent

During the seminar, students were provided some interesting, useful and novel knowledge from the speaker – Professor Dewettinck, namely: 

✅ Alternative protein for animal-based one (plant-based protein, insect-based protein) 

✅ Various challenges during the food manufacturing, embracing food safety (priority), sensory quality, convenience, nutritional value, and sustainability

✅ Some notes on manufacturing to not only preserve the environment but to convince the clientele, encompassing recycle the byproducts, using eco-friendly packaging, and to label clearly the nutrition facts on the packaging 

✅ Sustainability in food system and message from professor “Should you be the youth, let’s think about the sustainability” 

✅ Ultraprocessed food 

✅ Factors influencing food supply system
