3. Program objectives

The Food Technology major at the International University aims to produce food engineers with the following specific objectives:

  • Ability to make decisions in food management (PO1): Analyze, evaluate, and make standards and management rules for food technology (food industrial ownership, packaging, labels), quality, and food safety for managers to make decisions.
  • Ability to provide food services (PO2): Consult on technology transfer investment; consult on nutrition, food quality and food safety, provide food inspection, and quality control services.
  • Ability to design, improve and perfect food products (PO3): Research to improve and develop new food products that benefit human health; research to improve food production techniques and applications.
  • Ability to manage, operate, and produce food (PO4): Be in charge of and participate in technical and quality management in the food production technology chain; organize production and business operations in the food industry.
  • Having skills in critical thinking, decision-making, international communication, and teamwork (PO5): Have analytical skills, make decisions, solve problems, have teamwork skills, and work in an international, multicultural environment.
  • Having good health, high social and professional responsibility (PO6): Have professional ethics, understanding of laws and international food safety regulations, and good health.

 

4. Training orientation

The orientation of undergraduate training in Food Technology at International University is determined based on important foundations:

  • Compliance with the training development strategy of VNU-HCM.
  • Meeting the needs of human resources in the food industry in the country and the region.
  • Aligning with training trends in developed countries, to exploit the potential for training and research cooperation with international partners.

 

The training program in Food Technology at International University is designed to train food engineers, with the following main features:

  • Providing a broad, balanced understanding of food science and food engineering.
  • Providing fundamental knowledge of food management (including production management, quality, food safety, and environmental hygiene).
  • Emphasis on practical skills and access to high-tech equipment.
  • Teaching entirely in English (graduates will achieve English proficiency IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL iBT 61).
